The Worlds Fastest Digital Camera, the Casio Exilim

The worlds fasted digital camera is called the fastest for a reason. Recently featured in Popular Mechanics, I was surprised to see this camera was actually affordable. The camera has a 12X optical zoom and a 4X digital zoom, a continuous flash that shoots seven images per second in low light conditions, a 2.8″ LCD, and aperture settings from f/2.7 to f/15.

Video can also be recorded at 1080i high definition (1,920 x 1,080); all video is stored as a H.264 MOV file or you can use the camera’s HDMI output to display the video on a high-definition television. The camera has a 12X optical zoom and a 4X digital zoom, a continuous flash that shoots seven images per second in low light conditions, a 2.8″ LCD, and aperture settings from f/2.7 to f/15. Compatible with SD, SDHC, MMC and MMC+ memory cards. Rechargeable lithium ion battery allows up to 520 shots after a full charge. Includes 32 MB of internal memory, USB cable, battery charger, and AC adapter. 3″ H x 5″ W x 5″ D. (1 1/2 lbs.)

Oh yah, it also takes 60 full resolution photographs in one second. That means you can take pictures of very very fast moving objects and save the one you want. Unfortunately they still haven’t invented a camera that can catch me.

    Wait, so what’s the actual effective shutter speed? Being able to produce 60 images in one second is amazing but being able to shoot at 1/60th of a second is pretty much the opposite of amazing, considering consumer level SLR cameras can do 1/4000 with ease.
